How Pricing Works

Sellers set prices in USD. SkillPort charges a flat 15% platform fee per sale. There are no monthly fees, no listing fees, and no upfront costs.

On top of the platform fee, standard Stripe processing fees apply (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).

Pricing Tiers

Free ($0)

Great for open-source skills, demos, and building your reputation. No fees at all.

Low Price ($1–$9)

Ideal for utility skills and templates. Low barrier for buyers, high volume potential.

Mid Price ($10–$49)

Suitable for comprehensive automation skills and professional tools.

Premium ($50+)

For enterprise-grade skills with complex functionality, ongoing support, or consulting bundles.

Fee Breakdown Example

For a $10 skill sale:

SkillPort fee (15%): $1.50

Stripe fee (~3%): ~$0.60

You receive: ~$7.90

Stripe Adaptive Pricing

When a buyer in Japan purchases your $10 skill, Stripe automatically shows the price in JPY at the current exchange rate.

Supported currencies include JPY, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and 100+ others. You always receive USD.

Payouts

Connect your Stripe account from the SkillPort dashboard. Payouts are processed weekly via Stripe Connect.

You can track all sales and payouts in real-time from your dashboard.

Pricing FAQ

Can I change the price after publishing?

You can change the price while the skill is in draft. Once published, create a new version to adjust pricing.

Is there a minimum or maximum price?

The minimum paid price is $0.50 (50 cents). There is no maximum. Set price to 0 for free.

Do free skills have any fees?

No. Free skills cost nothing to publish, download, or maintain.

What happens if a buyer requests a refund?

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis for non-delivery or critical defects. The platform fee is returned to the buyer.

Can I offer discounts or coupons?

Not currently. Discount and coupon features are on the roadmap.
